The evolution in the ways and frequency with which people and companies capture significant amounts of information about their customers, suppliers, and operations has created tremendous opportunities for the Data Analytics industry which Enterprise Ireland (EI) and IDA Ireland continue to address through their technology centres.
Under the SSTI policy 2006, the Programme for Government 2011, and the Government Action Plan for Jobs 2012, technology centres were identified as a key component of Ireland’s Economic Development Strategy. Technology centres serve the interests of Industry, by conducting programmes of applied research, of commercial interest to specific sectors.
To facilitate this merging of industrial need and academic know-how, EI and IDA conducted an industry consultation period of over one year to identify the most pressing needs in Data Analytics; this informed a Detailed Description of Needs (DDN). In response to this DDN, a new Technology Centre was established within this domain because of the economic importance of data analytics nationally. This data analytics centre, the Centre for Applied Data Analytics Research (CeADAR) was established in November 2012.
CeADAR gratefully acknowledges the generous support of EI and IDA.
